Road trip through the Carpathians

For the past week me and my friends Lucian, Rodica and Sebastian were road tripping in the mountains of Romania – on the Transfagarasan road. This is a road that crosses through the Carpathian Mountains and it’s opened only a few months a year, in the rest of the year being covered with snow.
We didn’t get much sunny days but it was a beautiful and relaxing trip, with gorgeous sightseeing, taking tones of pictures, enjoying the melancholic rainy days, staying up late chatting with old friends.

Here we are, Rodica and I, getting ready to leave Fagaras (my home town). Me with the bread and Rodica still sleepy from last night :)

On our way to Balea Lake

The road seen from the top of the mountain, at Balea Lake

From here, we entered the tunnel through the mountain and then started going down on the other side. We stopped at Capra hotel (The goat)

Here is Capra seen from above and Capra waterfall nearby

We stopped in the forest, by the river and cooked some vegetables
Next stop was at Cumpana hotel, on Vidraru lake. I was impressed of the size and beauty of this lake. And it was so close of my home but I never got there until now

The Statue of Electricity

Vidraru lake – 15 km long, over 100 m deep – beautiful even on a rainy day

Luci and Rodica - playing silly by the lake

Vidraru dam - it’s huuge and it’s pretty scary up there. We couldn-t get better pictures but I can tell you that the real view it's really impressive.
You can make bunjee jumping from it. The boys are wandering how it might be.
